THE RUT – LONE PEAK VERTICAL K
The Lone Peak Vertical Kilometer is part of The Rut race events held in Big Sky Resort, Montana, USA. True to mountain running tradition, the Lone Peak Vertical Kilometer is 5 km long with 1,000m vertical climb – all uphill. The summit of Lone Peak stands at 3,403m, the arrival point of the race. The first half of the course heads up the ski runs, the most direct route to the base of Bone Crusher and Alto ridge and the top of Swiftcurrent lift. The second half of the race along Bone Crusher ridge and Alto ridge to the summit is extremely steep & technical with sections of exposure and potential rockfall hazard. The perfect Vertical Kilometer.
