The Southwest 100

March 26, 2022 @ 5:00 am UTC+0
$48

Nestled in the historic Davis Mountains, this race starts on the legendary San Antonio-El Paso Road in the heart of Fort Davis National Historic Site. This remote outpost in the 1800s was set up by the U.S. Army as a refuge for travelers making the 600 mile journey by horse or wagon train through hostile Indian country. It was also home to the famous Buffalo Soldiers.
From Fort Davis racers will climb through rocky single track further into the Davis Mountains as they enter Davis Mountains State Park. As vast panoramas open up, racers will take in the thin mountain air at over a mile high.
For those racers that go into the night, you will gaze at the same wide open sky studied by the nearby McDonald Observatory.
If you are looking for an iconic race with breathtaking views coupled with rich history, then this is the race for you.
