Trail de la Pierre A Voir
Starting at the church in the ancient town of Saxon near Martigny in the Swiss Canton of Valais, Pierre à voir is one of the earliest mountain races of the season that includes a significant vertical challenge, climbing high into the mountains above the Rhône valley, to the peak (2420m) after which the run was named. The route often includes some running over spring snow and features stunning views of the famous valley and adjacent peaks of the Valais. The race is well-supported, with four aid stations. Many Swiss runners view Pierre à voir as their first serious race of the season.
The race can be run alone or in a team of two. The view of Verbier, the Val de Bagnes, the Valais and Bernese Alps is impressive. The return to Saxon is by trails and passes via the village of La Tzoumaz.
You can combine this race on Saturday with the Tête du Guercet (8.2 km) on Friday night and Trophée Scex Carro on Sunday to make a three-challenge event! The Trail de la Bisse (19 km) is the same day.
