Inferno Half Marathon

January 1, 1970 @ 12:00 am UTC+0

Part of what is considered one of the world’s hardest triathlon, the Inferno trail race cover the steep portion of the running segment of the triathlon route. The start is in Lauterbrunnen, in one of the most photographed valleys in all of Switzerland. From there, the route climbs through the village of Murren, above the steep walled valley and then directly up to the summit of the Schilthorn, the 2,970-meter high peak popularized during the ski scene in the James Bond movie, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. The race is named for the world-renowned Inferno ski race, first run in 1928, which starts atop the Schilthorn.
